An idiot’s guide is a bit harsh, but hopefully it caught your attention – Lets call it the ‘Ding A Lings’ guide to F%^king things up – Drone Fishing

Never read the manual and do not watch How to videos

  • Flying a bait out before drone practice

  • Using a drop loop less than 1.5 meters

  • Attaching baits while in the air or catching drone

  • Taking off from a car bonnet or other platforms other than the ground

  • Maintaining less than 3-4 meters from the fishing rod or other objects

  • Not checking that the line is tangled on the rod tip

  • Not checking the reel drag or reel arm is open before taking off

  • Flying downwards or backwards while the bait is attached

  • Not confirming the bait has released before returning the drone

  • Not always watching the drone

  • Putting the remote controller down on return to land while drone is in the air

  • Not maintaining safe operation and situational awareness

  • Overloading the drone beyond 80% of its capabilities

  • Flying the drone in wind speeds exceeding pilot ability and drone specifications

  • Flying your drone in your front or back yard

  • Flying your drone within 15 meters of trees or buildings

It may seem like common sense, but most accidents happen due to the above list – it is surprising how often F#*k ups occur – its not rocket science – never do any of the above and you will minimise expensive and possibly dangerous accidents.

As a drone pilot you are responsible for any accidents or injuries caused to others – let’s all be safe and have fun.

Humour can make a warning easier to absorb, but it also walks a fine line because people may remember the joke more than the judgment behind it. That tension shows up with https://www.postbank.co.nz/ The Pokies as well, where a playful https://thepokies119.net/ frame can lower people’s guard even when the real issue is poor risk awareness.

Provocative framing in instructional content can capture attention, yet it risks overshadowing substantive guidance. Using Royal Reels as a structural analogy highlights how tone shapes audience expectations, balancing irreverence with clarity to ensure that technical advice about equipment handling and risk management remains credible and actionable.
